These are for my enjoyment, but I'm hopeful that you enjoy them as well. I appreciate all considered feedback. Thank you.

Advice

Harney is not prone to good luck, so when he stumbles across a business card that could hold the answers to all of his problems, he snatches the opportunity. Or does he bobble and drop it?

Author's Note:  This is my personal favorite, though it tends to draw the widest range of reactions.

ART LESSON

Art Lesson

Waking up with a headache is bad. Waking up with a headache in a room you don't recognize, finding yourself tied to a bed, and hearing the soft buzz of some type of power equipment in the next room - worse.

Author's Note:  I thought I would take a stab at a miniature thriller. I'm curious if you like the ending. I changed it for my uncle, who thought the original too heartless.

Under Construction

Author's Note:  Older and reflective of time spent in Northern New England. I liked experimenting here with vernacular, and a few childhood memories.

WINGED SHAFTS

Winged Shafts

A mysterious package in the mail. Two perennial competitors. Reputations, futures, and barter goods on the line. A fierce storm. What could go wrong?

Author's Note:  My oldest short story, from about 30 years ago. I was in the middle of studying 4 or 5 hours a day after work, but had to write it for catharsis.
